The transgender flag was designed by Monica Helms, a transgender woman, in 1999. The flag consists of five horizontal stripes of light blue, pink, white, pink, and light blue. The colors represent different aspects of the transgender community. The light blue represents the traditional color for boys, pink represents the traditional color for girls, and white represents those who are intersex, transitioning or neutral. The flag is often flown at events supporting transgender rights and visibility.
